Background of the Study

Grassroots leaders play a vital role in governance, particularly in rural areas where they serve as intermediaries between the government and the community (Sulaimon & Ibrahim, 2023). In Gusau Local Government Area (LGA), Zamfara State, grassroots leaders are tasked with overseeing the implementation of rural development projects aimed at improving living standards and fostering economic growth. However, these leaders often face significant challenges, including inadequate resources, limited political support, security concerns, and a lack of technical capacity to manage complex development projects (Garba & Alhaji, 2024). This study seeks to examine the challenges faced by grassroots leaders in Gusau LGA and how these challenges impact the success of rural development projects.
